Ranged magic DPS · top burst · best AoE farming in the roster
Chosen for big single hits and farming throughput, with no positional requirement — the thing that ruled out Assassin. Cost accepted: cloth armour, and damage depends on uptime under boss mechanics.
AssassinBigger hits and better solo sustain, but back-attack upkeep + mark stacking + conditional procs stacked together. Hardest in the game.
RangerSafest and most consistent — and last in both pure DPS and overall value per Korean live-server assessment. Weaker AoE.
SpiritmasterBest solo class by a margin, but sustained drip damage, 30s summon upkeep and a proximity leash.
GladiatorCannot beat a pure dealer at equal gear by design — trades personal damage for party synergy and boss aggro.

Set these before you move
Combat controls → Skill QueuingON
Key settings → Skill Macroright-click
Quickslot 1left-click
Hold right-click and the macro runs. The Korean boards are unanimous that the in-game macro beats a mouse macro for one reason: it works with Skill Queuing left on, which a hardware macro can't. Players report meaningful hit-count and DPS gains purely from switching.
Skill points, in this order
1
Flame Arrow & Ice Chain → 7Left-click and right-click. You hunt while moving, so these carry the early game.
2
Flame Harpoon → 75-second cooldown — the single most-pressed damage skill while levelling.
3
Flame Burst → 7The Fire Mark passive procs marks on fire hits; Flame Burst detonates them.
Skill level 12 and 16 are the real spikes — not character level. Korean guides report roughly 10–20% more damage each time a skill reaches 16. Character cap is 37 at the test, so you can reach these and feel them.
What to actually expect
English guides call Sorcerer's early game "weak." The Korean live-server guides say the opposite — very high early hunting efficiency, and notably low gear dependency, so skill levels alone carry your damage. Both are describing the same thing: it kills fast and dies fast. Judge the damage on Wednesday; don't judge the survivability, because you'll have no gear.
The one habit to build: pull to your control budget, not your damage. The pack you can lock down is the pack you can safely delete. Range is a defensive stat.
Test plan · 12 hours
Level cap 37, everything wipes afterwards. The only goal is answering questions the guides can't.
Disabled during the test (per Steam): all purchases, Shop, Quna, passes and memberships; Marketplace, Quna exchange and player trading; the Closet; and Founder's Pack items. Combat and levelling only.
Faction · the other permanent choice
Elyos
Elysea · southern hemisphere
Bright, lush, highly readable zones with clear paths. Skill effects built on light and speed.
Poeta → Verteron → Eltnen
Asmodian
Asmodae · northern hemisphere
Frozen tundra, jagged mountains, permanent dim twilight. Skill effects built on shadow and raw power.
Ishalgen → Altgard → Morheim
Identical everywhere it counts. Same 8 classes, no faction stat bonuses, no exclusive skills — the skill differences are visual only. First 30 levels are spent entirely in your own faction's territory; the Abyss opens after that. The two sides sit on separate server spheres, so this decides who you can play with, not who you fight.
Both are playable at the test. Roll one character on each side and look at the starting zones — that's the whole decision, and it's the only chance to see them before committing.

Damage cycle
Base loop is auto-attack cancelling — every 3 autos gives a guaranteed Flame Burst: autoautoFlame Burst
That loop cuts the cooldown on Prayer of Concentration, which in turn cuts cooldowns on two combos: Elemental Enhancement + Fire Field and Delayed Explosion + Frigid Wind.
The whole class is how often you cycle Delayed ExplosionFrigid WindWinter's Bind — all three carry damage-resistance shred plus heavy single-target damage.
In PvE you barely touch Flame Harpoon or Barrage (auto-cancelling is worth more for that time). Hellfire is a stagger tool only.
Note the reversal: Flame Harpoon is your most-pressed skill while levelling and gets dropped at endgame. The levelling kit and the endgame kit are not the same kit — don't try to run this cycle at level 15.
Unverified for global. This is Korean live-server theory at their patch level, with my own English glosses on the skill names. NC hasn't published what patch the 5 October build ships at. Use it to understand the mechanics, not to allocate skill points on day one.
Ignore: mmoexp · u4n · u4gm · aoeah · exitlag · lagofast · boostroom · expcarry · leprestore · ggwtb · timesaver · pvpbank — gold-selling storefronts running AI SEO. Every contradictory tier list traces back to them.
Phase 2 — after launch
Levelling order, skill-point priority, gear upgrade path, and the weekly loop. Deliberately empty: dungeon entries and energy are per-character per-week, so the endgame tracker is the part that actually earns a tool — and none of it can be written honestly before 5 October.
